About this retreat
Casa de Ondalinda is a gated modern villa in Playa Encuentro, built by a Los Angeles Hollywood producer as a private home and set on a quiet residential street surrounded by lush greenery — minutes from Kite Beach, Cabarete's restaurants and shops, and next door to one of the Dominican Republic's premier surf breaks.
The house is built around a single gesture: a retractable glass wall that opens the great room entirely onto the outdoor area, so 2,000 square feet under 20-foot ceilings becomes one continuous space between the couch and the pool. Inside, a large L-shaped sofa faces a 75-inch smart TV, and a bespoke wood dining table seats eight. Natural light moves through the open floor plan all day.
The kitchen is set up for people who actually cook — gas stove and oven, full cookware and dishware, with a grill in the outdoor kitchen area for everything else. Four bedrooms carry hotel-quality mattresses and fresh linens; four full bathrooms and a half bath mean a group of eight never queues. Washer and dryer on site, modern bathrooms, strong hot water pressure.
Outside is where the house earns its name. A private pool anchors the deck, with a lounge area, a hanging egg chair, a hammock, an outdoor shower, landscape lighting for the evening, and a covered surfboard rack by the door. A pull-up bar and TRX round out a training setup for anyone keeping a routine between sessions.
